Class Description

Wave Flow classes

Wave Flow is a unique and inspiring blend of Hatha yoga and Vinyasa Flow incorporating pranayama, asana, mudra, bandha, and meditation.

Level 1 / Gentle Wave Flow - Gentle stretching and balancing asanas combined with simple sequencing, this class is perfect for all students: beginners, those with physical limitations, as well as advanced students who desire a slower, lighter practice.

Level 2 – Designed for intermediate students, this class involves moderate flows and inversions designed to build stamina, strength and endurance.

Level 3 – A more intense practice, this class involves advanced flows, inversions, and arm balances for experienced yogis.

Long Hold – Still your mind while building strength in your body in this quiet class where asanas are held for extended periods.

Power Flow Yoga

Power Flow Yoga is a dynamic, energetic, and soulful style of yoga that mixes vinyasa flow and power yoga. Many modifications will be provided, so all participants feel welcomed, yet challenged.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga

A mindful movement practice linking breath with movement to strengthen, stretch and energize the body while balancing, purifying and calming the mind.

Iyengar Yoga

Woman only Tuesday 9:30-11:00AM

This 90 minute all-level class emphasizes women’s health. Each class begins with two resting/ recuperative poses. Stretching poses follow to lengthen the hamstrings and open the pelvis for optimizing circulation to the reproductive organs. Rigorous, but supported standing poses ensue, and then seated forward extensions, twists, backbends, or recuperatives/pranayama according to the 4-week cycle of progressive curriculum designed by Dr. Lois Steinberg.

Always a beginner Wednesday 5:15-6:45PM

A 10 week session of basic postures. The standing poses are emphasized because they bring strength, flexibility, alignment, and vitality to the physical body. This safe and gradual learning approach fosters competence and confidence in the postures, facilitates self-understanding, and increases the benefits, which come from the practice of yoga. Each class ends with savasana, final relaxation, followed by a short, seated meditation.

The syllabus is a safe, orderly, systematic progression of poses to develop the student’s ability both within a class and from class to class. New session starts on September 4th.

50+ Thursday 9:30-11:00AM

Iyengar Yoga for 50+ Postures in this slower paced class are taught with more modifications to accommodate older students and/or those with mild chronic health conditions. Emphasis is given to supported poses that increase mobility and strength of the neck, shoulders, spine, legs, and opening the chest for optimal circulation and breathing. The class is designed and conducted to be comfortable for women and men 50 years and older. However, this is not a firm limit; other ages are invited to inquire about the course format and accommodations.

Iyengar Yoga for all levels? Saturday 11:00AM-12:30PM

This 90 minute class covers the basic principles and foundation postures of Iyengar Yoga. Classes will differ according to the capacity of the participants. Expect an emphasis on standing poses the first week, forward bends the second, backbends the third, and every fourth week of the course, a restorative class with pranayama (breathing exercises) instruction. This four-week cycle repeats itself.

Eclectic Yin

Explore your hidden yin side, perhaps your previously neglected side. Yin yoga is a perfect compliment to a vigorous flowing practice, giving the joints and connective tissues what they crave and require to stay strong and healthy. Eclectic yin is a gentle, guided practice of mostly quiet, still, even lazy, yin poses, with plenty of time for inward exploration. Learn to let go of life’s distractions and just be, even for just a little while. Attain the quiet and peace necessary to balance the noise and chaos. Perfect for beginners and seasoned yogis alike.

Going Asanas

Consider this the class that encourages you to explore your edge of stretching and strengthening. Going Asanas is a catalyst for learning how to make the body an instrument to feel lighter, stronger and more relaxed. Every class will include arm balances and inversions. Remember this is just yoga practice, not yoga-perfect and Alicia will be there to support your goals and take your practice to an exciting level. This class is well-matched for seasoned yogis and athletes.

Vortex

Vortex is a facilitated ecstatic dance experience. We start with a warm-up to get you to tune in with your body and fellow dancers. This is the preparation for the journey. From that point, the music takes you through a progression: we start with watery flowing beats, move to sharper, angular sounds, build to an intense crescendo that evokes plenty of sweat and, hopefully, the release into movement without thought. As we edge back down the other side, we find the light, airy rhythms, then settle back down to earth and stillness.

Vortex can be purely physical – a fun way to burn some calories, deeply spiritual – an invocation of your deepest soul language, therapeutic – a chance to sweat out your prayers, soul-filling – a chance to dance with like-minded souls in a safe space.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha, literally translating to Sun (Ha) and Moon (tha), symbolizes the creative and reflective forces of life. Practicing with the tools of breath, physical postures, and movement, each session will explore this tension of opposites. Discover in practice the potential “ah-ha” wonders of paradox, such as, the curiosity “to know” and the inevitable joy of not needing “to-know.” Open to all levels.

Friday Flyers

Flying Friday is a fun, fast paced, vigorous yoga flow including arm balances, inversions, and creative transitions between asanas including jump-backs and jump-throughs.  While this is an advanced practice, all are welcome to come and learn the basics of “flying,” even if, at first, your heart is the only part that soars!  There is always joy and laughter and lightness, regardless of experience level or ability.  Modifications are provided each step of the way.

Lord’s Prayer Meditation also know as Kundalini Meditation

We will introduce you to mediation, to our energy body and to experience the beauty and power of the Lord’s Prayer Meditation in a group setting.

The Lord’s Prayer Meditation is a universal spiritual meditation based on the correlation of the phrases of the Lord’s Prayer with the eleven major energy centers (called chakras in Sanskri and sephiroths in the Kabbalah Tree of Life) that function as entry points to certain levels of consciousness. This meditation allows one to access gateways into inner horizons and bring down Divine energy necessary for character building, development fo the virtues and transmutation of lower grossier energies to more subtle energies.

Pranic Healing

Pranic Healing is a simple but highly developed and tested system of energy based healing techniques founded by Grand Master Choa Kok Sui that utilizes “prana” to balance, harmonize and transform the body’s energy processes. Pranic Healing is a simple yet powerful and effective no-touch energy healing. It is based on the fundamental principle that the body is a “self-repairing” living entity that possesses the innate ability to heal itself. Pranic Healing works on the principle that the healing process is accelerated by increasing the life force or vital energy on the affected part of the physical body.
